The conference 7-8 May
Much like previous opensqlcamps, this will be an un-conference style get together for people interested in open source databases, including non-relational databases, database alternatives like NoSQL stores, and database tools such as Gearman. We are not focusing on any one project, and hope to see representatives from a variety of open source database projects attend.
Open Database Camp is free and its format is designed to blend spontaneity with the quality and depth that comes only with pre-planning. We borrow a little from many different styles of conferences to achieve this. Our target audience are users and developers, but others are encouraged to attend too. There will be both presentations and hackathons, so there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, contribute, and collaborate!

Watch this space. We are thinking about tourist attractions before, during, and after the event. Some will be free, some will be provided by local companies for a fee, but all will be interesting for the ones who want to combine pleasure and work.

The weather in Sardinia is mild. May is almost summertime. If you live in cold places like the North of the USA, Canada, Scandinavia, May in Sardinia is definitely warmer. More logistics information will come.
Why Open Database Camp, and not Open SQL Camp like before? The Open SQL Camp tradition has evolved since its inception in 2008. It has now become a gathering of database professionals and enthusiasts, not necessarily identifiable with the SQL constraint. So, the conference welcomes everyone who deals with open databases, regardless of the languages used to interface them.
Stay tuned for more info. In the meantime, you can discuss this matter in the opensqlcamp Google Group.
